THESIS PROPOSAL & BREADTH TOPICS

Thesis Proposal (pdf)

The proposed topics of the Temecula Medical Center thesis depth study are changing the current concrete flat plate system to a predominantly steel structure while also converting the concrete shear walls to diagonal bracing. This is being done in hopes of a smaller floor thickeness as well as less interior space needed for the lateral force resistant system.

Revised Thesis Proposal - (1/16/09)

This document is a revision of the original proposal.

Executive Summary (pdf)

Executive Summary of the thesis proposal report

Breadth Studies (pdf)

Topics of the breadth study include a look at changing the current plaster building facade to predominantly glass as well as analyzing the construction management-related issues associated with changing the structure from concrete to mainly steel. The glass facade will pose several architectural questions dealing with space lighting and thermal protection. The construction management breadth will assess the changes and the feasiblity of the proposal from the owner's perspective.
