BIOGRAPHY

Sean Beville is currently in his 5th year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at The Pennsylvania State University. In May 2009, he will graduate with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering with an emphasis on structural design. Upon graduation, he will have completed a thesis proposal on the Temecula Medical Center in Temecula, CA explaining how the structural system could have been designed differently while maintaining the integrity of the initial design.

Sean has maintained involvement in various student organizations, primarily with the Student Society of Architectural Engineers (SSAE) as well as many intramural sports. Throughout the summer he has completed a number of internships which is highlighted by participation in NASA research scholars (LARSS), working with the Penn State Engineering Core (OPP), and performing structural analysis with Clark Nexsen, a design firm based in Virginia Beach, VA. These opportunities have given him chances to not only use the materials that he has learned in the classroom, but also to gain a professional view of the structural engineering field.

After passing the FE exam in October, Sean will be eligible for EIT status upon graduation in May. He looks to use the valuable experience he obtained in his summer internships as well as the knowledge he gained through his course work to start a career as a structural engineer. Once a job is secured with an elite AE firm, Mr. Beville will begin working toward licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
