User Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work-in-progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Eric Fedder. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.

COURSE REFLECTION

Senior Thesis was a very unique and rewarding experience. The work performed in the Fall (AE 481W) was beneficial to learn how to analyze a project to gather all of the important details pertaining to building systems, existing conditions and project processes. The spring semester work (AE 882) was far more challenging. The unstructured nature of the course required personal guidance and time management. I feel that the spring semester was a good lesson in how to have a vision and determine that best plan to achieve the goal. This is extremely applicable to the career that lies ahead. Each project has an end goal in mind, which is turning over the building to the owner as specified. It is up to the design/construction team to determine the plan/process necessary to achieve the vision.

CPEP REFLECTION

The Capstone E-Portfolio was one of the more frustrating aspects of the senior thesis requirements. I had very little experience in creating websites prior to this year, so it was very time consuming at first to learn. Overall, I feel that the CPEP site is a good tool for industry members, professors and anyone else that is interested to see the work that is being accomplished throughout the year. I think that the best benefit is having the information archived for the several years, which provides an excellent resource for future 5th year students completing their thesis work.
