Gerald Craig, who normally goes by 'Jerry', attended Penn State as an adult student pursuing a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree.  Jerry graduated on May 14, 2010.  He is intent on becoming a licensed structural engineer.  Along with his college studies, he is a member of AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) and SSAE (Student Society of Architectural Engineers). He was also invited to join The Pennsylvania State University Chapter of the Golden Key Honor Society because of his current academic success.  At the beginning of the spring semester (2010) he was awarded the McKamish Family Trustee Scholarship.  To strengthen his knowledge in Architectural Engineering, Jerry took graduate level courses to fulfill the required technical electives.  Major coursework included structural steel & reinforced concrete design for buildings, earthquake resistant design of buildings, computer modeling, masonry design for buildings, and residential design & construction.

Over the last several years, Jerry worked for multiple general contractors (Charter Concord Construction, Rosen Development Company, Zielinski Home Builders) as a construction superintendent.  The largest project he was involved with was the construction of  "The Apartments at Forrest Pointe".  Forrest Pointe is a 25 building complex with 200 apartment units.  The rough cost of construction was $13 million and was completed in two years.  Before that he worked as an engineering technician (internship) for C & S Engineers (Industrial Services Group), Sear-Brown (Syracuse Office, Schools Group), and the Cortland County Highway Department (New York).  His most significant design experience came from being on the design team for two short-span bridges constructed in Cortland County, each project roughly $1 million.  Along with being the designer on one of the bridge construction projects, he also served as site engineer for it.  Being on site provided Jerry first hand knowledge of how structural steel and concrete reinforcement bars are assembled.  This allowed him to provide subsequent designs and plans that were easily interpreted and executed.

Jerry has considerable knowledge and experience with AutoCAD (+Civil); Microsoft Office; Adobe PhotoShop; STAAD PRO; Ram Advanse; and various other engineering software.  He recently learned to use SAP and ETABS.  Jerry's broad work experience has given him the opportunity to directly observe how things are accomplished and constructed in the real world, not just in the classroom or on paper.
