Technical Report 1

Technical Report 1 analyzed the existing structural system and design loads. Descriptions of the structural systems included the foundations, floor construction, lateral systems, and roof construction. Gravity loads were calculated and compared to any diagramed loads listed on the plans. Lateral loads were comprised of wind and seismic and and compared. Finally member spot checks were conducted to verify sizes and reinforcement called out in the drawings. Technical Report 2

Technical Report 2 analyzed the existing structural floor system and compared it with three alternative structural systems. All systems were compared based on general conditions, architectural impacts, structural capibilities, serviceability and constructibiltiy. The existing two-way slab, a post-tensioned flat plate, a hollow core plank and a composite steel system were designed in this report. Technical Report 3

Technical Report 3 analyzed the lateral forces and lateral force resisting system of the General Office Building. The existing lateral system in Unither consists of 2 shear wall cores along with several continuous drop panels, which act as moment frames. A 3D ETABS computer model was used to calculate all member forces and deflections. Hand calculations were used to verify all computer output. All members were found to be adequate for all strength and serviceability requirements. Click the image below for a pdf copy of the report, posted on 11/16/2011.
