JAKE POLLACK | ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING | STRUCTURAL OPTION

ABOUT JAKE

JAKE POLLACK IS A FIFTH YEAR STUDENT IN THE ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING PROGRAM AT THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY. HE GRADUATES IN MAY 2011 WITH A MASTER'S AND BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING WITH AN EMPHASIS ON STRUCTURES. JAKE PASSED HIS FUNDAMENTALS OF ENGINEERING (FE) EXAM IN APRIL OF 2010 AND RECEIVES EINGINEERING IN TRAINING (EIT) DESIGNATION UPON GRADUATION.

DURING THE SUMMER OF 2010 JAKE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK AS AN INTERN IN NEW YORK CITY FOR GILSANZ MURRAY STEFICEK LLP. HE WORKED PREDOMINANTLY ON A FOURTEEN STORY APARTMENT BUILDING THAT WAS CONNECTED TO A TEN STORY HOTEL VIA AN UNDERGROUND PARKING GARAGE. THROUGH THIS EXPERIENCE HE LEARNED THE EVERY DAY ROUTINES OF A STRUCTURAL ENGINEER IN ADDITION TO LEARNING THE WORKINGS OF A STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING FIRM.

AFTER GRADUATION JAKE WILL START HIS CAREER AS A PROJECT ENGINEER FOR HITT CONTRACTING INC. IN FALLS CHURCH, VA.

OUTSIDE OF ACADEMICS, JAKE IS INVOLVED IN MANY DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS. HE IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE STUDENT CHAPTER OF THE PENN STATE STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION (PSSEA), HE IS A MENTOR IN THE STUDENT SOCIETY OF ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERS (SSAE), AND HE WAS ALSO AN EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBER OF THE ALPHA EPSILON PI FRATERNITY FOR TWO YEARS.
