AE481W and AE482 Reflection

The AE Senior Capstone Thesis program, over the past two semesters, has given me invaluable experience as I transition into the working world of engineering. The ability to use the knowledge I’ve gained over the past five years in an analysis of a real building system tied the whole curriculum together. Applying this knowledge in a redesign of a professional mechanical system, along with faculty and professional help, developed my critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills.

Possibly two of the most valuable outcomes from the structure of this course are project coordination and scheduling. The Thesis program was strictly a work at your own pace system and one which was completely new to me. In a professional environment there will be no individual there to watch over me. It is my responsibility to keep on task and this course emphasizes as well as enhances this skill.

CPEP & Discussion Board Reflection

No class before the Senior Thesis emphasized the design and management of a website. The CPEP site design was completely new and proved to be a strong tool throughout the year. The ability to refer to previous projects allowed great insight on everything from formatting issues to breadth integration. This along with the discussion board allowed myself to handle both technical and non-technical questions on my own.
