Thesis Proposal

The proposal describes the existing systems designed for the ArNG building and goes into potential alternatives which are under review. Such alternatives are as follows: A Dedicated Outdoor Air System and a Ground Source Heat Pump.
DOAS will first be analyzed in an effor to reduce loads to the large amount of office spaces throughout the building. This will be used in conjunction with Chilled Radiant Panels and fan units to establish the best combination for load reduction.
GSHP will be analyzed with the reduction in loads to determine if such a system will perform better than the current design. Both the design loads and reduced loads will be applied to showcase the extent of the savings by load reduction.

Executive Summary

Breadth Proposals

Revised Schedule

Two Breadths have been specified. The first dealing with Acoustical considerations. The building has very sensitive areas dealing with potential classified transfers of information. As a result these rooms must be highly isolated and the designed system as well as alternatives will be sutdied. The second dealing with Construction Management, with the implimentation of the GSHP it will be necessary to study both costs and scheduling issues which will result.
Revised proposal 2 was done after Go-NO GO evaluation and cleared during that meeting. It narrowed the depth analysis to DOAS only.
