AE 481W /481 Course Reflection

The AE senior thesis program has been an extremely valuable experience for me. I was able to challenge myself with a comprehensive project that I was able to generate a close to really world experience. Through this, I was able to expose myself to aspects of engineering that would never have found there way into undergraduate level classroom setting. I studied the design and construction of a Two Way Concrete Slab system and a One Way Concrete Slab system, and the lateral system included cast-in-place concrete shear walls. One area of research that I was unable to study was to look at different laterally systems that could be use in a build. If I would have to do a thesis project again I would look into alternative laterally system design.

CPEP Reflection

The creation of the CPEP web site was very useful for the use of this thesis. At the state of this thesis project I already had a strong knowledge and understanding of web design but was still able to expand on my knowledge and leaned new innovated ways to present information in a digital world. I was able to show professionals what I was working on, and in tern receive a better description for assistance and guidance. In addition, the CPEP web site allowed work to be submitted in one, easy to access location that anyone, be it faculty members, friends, family, or even professionals could access.
