Stephen Kijak is currently starting his 5th year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State.  In the Fall of 2011 he will graduate with an Integrated Bachelor/Master of Architectural Engineering with a focus in Structural Systems.  At the time, Stephen maintains a 3.52 GPA and his status on the Dean’s List for which he’s been on for the past 5 semesters.  He has recently passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and is awaiting EIT status upon graduation.  Stephen belongs to a number of engineering organizations including the Penn State Chapter of the Architectural Engineering Institute (SSAE) and the Structural Engineers Association (SEI).

For his thesis, Stephen is participating in the IPD/BIM project.  This untraditional thesis marries the four options in a group thesis focused on Building Information Modeling using various software packages including Autodesk and CSi.  Stephen is also taking several graduate level courses in Seismic Design, Steel Connections, Building Forensics, and Advanced Computer Analysis of Building Structures.  Stephen’s goal is to gain enough experience to be licensed as a Professional Engineer and a Structural Engineer.

During Stephen’s free time he likes to travel.  Over the past summer, Stephen took a 3 week tour through Europe visiting 8 different countries. He enjoys learning of new cultures and exploring the architecture of new cities.
