Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work-in-progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Zachary Haupt. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.

Zachary Haupt is a fifth year student at The Pennsylvania State University.  In May 2011, he will graduate with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree, with a focus on building mechanical systems.  Zach is involved in both academic and professional organizations including the Penn State Chapter of the Architectural Engineering Institute (Student Society of Architectural Engineers), and American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).  Zach is also eligible for Engineer in Training (EIT) status upon graduation.

During the past three summers, Zach had the opportunity to have mechanical engineering internships.  He worked two summers with Jacobs Engineering (a construction management firm) before joining James Posey Associates (a consulting MEP firm located in Baltimore, MD) this past summer.  These internships game him vital work experience in HVAC design.  At the conclusion of these internships he has decided that he would like to work with a consulting firm, in an environment where his knowledge can continue to grow.

Outside of academics Zach is involved in many activities.  He has participated in several medical missions to Honduras, which he hopes he can continue visiting.  He has also set a personal goal of attending at least one of every Penn State sporting event.  This year Zach has finally been able to accomplish his lifelong goal of breathing under water via his scuba diving class.
