profile_picAsher Harder is in his 5th year of study in the Penn State Architectural Engineering program. In May 2012, he will graduate with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering, with a focus in lighting and electrical design. Asher is involved with several professional and social clubs on campus such as the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), the Student Society of Architectural Engineers (SSAE) and CRU. He serves as the secretary for the Penn State Chapter of IES and is involved in the SSAE mentoring program.

Over the past couple of years, Asher has enjoyed learning about architectural lighting and has complemented his studies by taking several theatrical lighting courses. His studies have been accompanied by several architecturally based, theatrical lighting internships with Walt Disney Imagineering and Clair Brothers Audio Systems. Through these internships, he has learned much about composition, lighting controls, lighting equipment, and yes, the “real world.”

Both inside and outside of the formal classroom, Asher likes to create. Whether he is composing a picture, a lighting design, a business plan, a lighting control interface, or a drum groove, Asher is enthusiastic about the process of turning an idea into a reality. In his free time he enjoys photography, dancing, drumming, swimming and hiking.

Asher's resume and portfolio can be found on his personal website.
