Technical Assignments

 

TECHNICAL ASSIGNMENT 1: (Updated on October 28, 2011)

Technical Assignment 1 is intended to analyze the background information of the River Vue Apartments building including the conditions under which the building is constructed and the scope of work. The background knowledge presents the opportunities and constraints that affect the design and construction process. The topics included in the report are project schedule, building systems, project cost evaluation, existing/local conditions, site layout planning, client information, project delviery system, and staffing plans.

 

TECHNICAL ASSIGNMENT 2: (Updated on November 21, 2011)

Technical Assignment 2 is intended to analyze the key features of the River Vue Apartments project that affect project execution and to determine important schedule attributes and the costs of a key building system. The topics included in the report are detailed project schedule, detail structural system estimate, general conditions estimate, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), and Building Information Modeling (BIM).

 

TECHNICAL ASSIGNMENT 3: (Updated on December 2, 2011)

Technical Assignment 3 is intended to identify areas of the River Vue Apartments project that are good candidates for research, alternative methods, value engineering, and schedule compression.  These areas will form the basis for the final thesis proposal. The topics included in the report are the unique constructability challenges, schedule acceleration scenarios, implemented value engineering areas, critical industry issues, problematic design and construction features, and technical analysis options.

 

Special thanks to Turner Construction Company, especially Mr. Kevin Ludwick and Mr. Chris DiLorenzo, for providing all the information pertaining to River Vue Apartments. Another special thanks to IDG, LLP, especially Mr. Todd Havekotte, for providing all renderings for the project.
