About Matt

Matt is a fifth year Architectural Engineering major in the Construction Management Option. He will graduate in May of 2012 with a B.A.E. During thie summer of 2011 Matt obtained an internship with Warfel Construction Company where he performed a variety of activities for numerous projects. Matt also obtained his LEED Green Associate certificate while working at the internship. During winter break of his senior year at Penn State Matt obtained his LEED AP with a specialty in building design and construction. Upon graduation, Matt will move to Jacksonville, Florida to begin working full-time with Sauer Inc. as a project engineer/estimator.

During his first two years of college Matt was a Chemistry major in the Eberly College of Science. Although he received good grades in his classes and found them engaging he was not interested in any of the careers the field had to offer. After reviewing numerous other majors he was confident that Architectural Engineering was the best major suited for him. Careers that often resulted from the major had aspects of science and engineering mixed in with social interaction. They also contributed to society in a tangible and visible way which was important to Matt. He is extremely pleased with his change of major.

Since joining the Architectural Engineering major Matt has been a member of S:PACE. He recognizes the need to continue learning throughout the career of a construction manager. That is why he will be taking the F.E. in the Spring of 2012. He has many interests within the industry and is anxious to explore those interests further after graduation.
