The main structural depth of the report consists of a comparison of a traditional fixed base model versus a high seismic performance base isolation system. Base on the Seismic Safety Act, it was extremely important to design the structure to meet performance requirements above code minimum levels when moved to a high seismic region, in this case the S-1 "Immediate Occupancy" requirements of ASCE 41-06.

Also included are two breadths consisting of an architectural/facade study of an alternate glazing system as well as a construction management breadth dealing with the implifications of using the base isolation system versus the traditional fixed base system.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide
accurate and complete information on the pages of
CPEP, please be aware that the information contained
herewith is considered a work in progess for this thesis
project. Modifications and changes related to the
original building design and construction methodo-
logies for this senior thesis project are solely the
intrepretation of Nathan McGraw. Changes and
discrepancies in now way imply the the original
design contained errors or was flawed. Differing
  assumptions, code references, requirements, and
methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis
project; therefore, investigation results may vary from
  the orginal design.
