Senior Thesis Reflection

The Penn State Senior Thesis Project revolved around the design and construction techniques regarding Office Building 1 of the CityCenterDC development. During the fall semester, three in-depth technical reports were created. These reports aimed at compiling information about the existing building design and construction methods. In the spring semester, three proposals were conducted in an effort to find alternative solutions to the more challenging issues of the project. All of the work was then compiled into a final report and presentation. The senior thesis taught me how to efficiently research and analyze building systems while looking for alternative means to a problem.

CPEP Reflection

The Capstone E-Portfolio is a great organizational tool for students to document and show their work. It is a tool both students and faculty will be able to use for years to come.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work in progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Andy Penev. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
