Reflection

SENIOR THESIS REFLECTION__________________

AE Senior Thesis is a great experience and learning tool for a student about to enter the industry. Studying and then altering buildings existing system not only allows one to become acquainted with typical engineering practices and designs, but also forces one to face design problems which may occur in the field.  The first semester dealt with studying the existing system. This truly helped to strengthen my understanding of various codes and standards, reading construction documents, professional communication, and energy modeling.

The second semester, focusing on the system redesign, was beneficial in making me begin to think as if I was really on the job and understanding how systems work together. This also allowed me to prepare myself for typical system analysis which will be valuable in my professional career, as well and understanding of new immerging technologies that have not been covered much in other classes.
