Why did you choose to come to Penn State? I chose to come to Penn State because I wanted to attend a great engineering program at a school with a lot of spirit. Being a Pennsylvania native, nothing fit the bill better than good old happy valley.

What has been your best memory as an engineering student? I've had so many great experiences as an engineering student at Penn State, but my best happened this year. Penn State's EcoCAR3 team won 3rd place in Electrical Systems at competition, and I was presenting! It was incredible to be a representative for Penn State in front of the Department of Energy, countless industry sponsors, and other great engineering schools from across the continent.

What advice would you give a first-year engineer? It gets better. The early classes are rough, but if you take a balanced course load and use as many AP credits as you can you'll have a great first year. You're laying the groundwork for some very interesting classes, and you'll be able to have time to pursue things outside of engineering.

What do you plan to do after graduation? I want to work on the cutting edge of the transportation industry. I completed an internship at General Motors where I was doing safety testing on propulsion systems, and it really cemented my dream to work in the automotive industry. Last Summer, I had an internship with Ford where I was developing software for hybrid vehicle powertrains. I'll actually be returning to Ford to work full-time, and will be a part of their hybrid vehicle development rotational program.
