Why did you choose to come to Penn State? Coming out of high school, I did not know exactly what I wanted as a career. Penn State gave me the chance to explore a variety of career options while maintaining security in the idea that I was getting the best education no matter what field I entered. I also was drawn to the school spirit and the availability of opportunity.

What has been your best memory as an engineering student? Last year, I was able to go to State High with Society of Women Engineers to explain non-Newtonian fluids to middle school students. We made cornstarch, food dye, and water mixtures. It was so much fun to see the kids actually enjoy the science (and the goop), and reminded my of how I grew to love science as a kid.

What advice would you give a first-year engineer? Don't be afraid to explore the different kinds of engineering. In general, the first year of courses are the same for all engineers, so shopping around won't delay graduation. Take this time to figure out which type of engineering suits you the best! I changed my major 4 times in the first year and am still on track to graduate!

What do you plan to do after graduation? While I have not solidified my plans for after graduation, I hope to work in one of two fields, entertainment or military. I hope pursue a career as a systems engineer for the Air Force. Alternatively, I would like to be in the entertainment field, ideally working on the stage production of concerts and large events like the Olympic Opening Ceremonies.

What has been your best experience outside of engineering at Penn State? All of my best experiences at Penn State draw off of the incredible people I have been able to meet through my involvement around campus. I could not imagine college life without the excitement and support that exists on campus and with my closest friends., From football games to finals, I know someone is always around to share the experience with me!
