Why did you choose to come to Penn State? As an international student, I have never dared (or even dream) to come to a highly prestigious university like Penn State. I was only hoping to be accepted at a local university in Indonesia. Fortunately however, I won a scholarship from Chevron and having this opportunity in hand, I look for the best school possible, especially a research based university. Penn State comes out as the first and the best research school, not only in United States, but in the world! The rest was an easy pick for me. Fun fact, I accepted the acceptance offer from Penn State two hours upon receiving the letter.

What has been your best memory as an engineering student? My first project in the EDSGN 100 class. During the class we were assigned to build a foldable shopping cart for senior people and my team decided to built it from scratch. It was very fun experimenting and building the cart using different materials and sophisticated machines in Penn State's workshop. It was also the first time I had ever use an industrial sized saw machine. I felt like a badass!

What advice would you give a first-year engineer? Don't be shy and don't be afraid to get involved! Everyone is very warm and welcoming and willing to teach you many things as long as you are willing to learn. I was lucky enough to be exposed with professional event, projects and research early on. Not to mention, all events usually comes with free food.

What do you plan to do after graduation? I am planning to pursue graduate studies in Material Science. I am focusing on Elastomers and Polymers for my research interest.

What has been your best experience outside of engineering at Penn State? The football game! Football is not a thing in Indonesia, therefore, to be able to attend the game, wear a Penn State jersey and join the wave in the midst of thousands of Penn Staters was truly one of the highlight moments of my life.
