Why did you choose to come to Penn State? The Women in Engineering Program at Penn State is one of the strongest and most developed programs in the country. I received both of my internships through this program. Penn State is a beautiful campus and I fell in love with the landscape and architecture. The school spirit is strong and it was obvious to me when I visited as a junior and senior in high school that the students here really enjoy Penn State.
What has been your best memory as an engineering student? I worked an 8 month co-op (extended internship) with GE Energy in Minden, NV- right outside of Lake Tahoe, CA. I was able to ski every weekend in the winter and mountain bike most days during the summer. I was also able to travel to different energy sites and realize just how much goes into turning that light switch on every day. Penn State helped prepare me for this experience and also offered the resources for me to obtain it in the first place.
What advice would you give a first-year engineer? Love where you are and the people you are with. Don't bring highlighters- you get A LOT as freebies from companies!
What do you plan to do after graduation? After I graduate in December 2012, I plan to seek a position as a manufacturing engineer or in an operations rotational program. I would like to live out west.
What has been your best experience outside of engineering at Penn State? Penn State Football! There's nothing like being in Beaver Stadium with 110,000 people cheering the team on!
