Why did you choose to come to Penn State? Not only does Penn State have one of the best Architectural Engineering programs in the country, the social aspect and love for the university that seems to be a common theme with everyone you meet is something that really makes the university stand out. When I'm at Penn State, I feel like I'm at my second home; I have a true Penn State family that has proven to be unlike any other relationship that I have ever formed with a group of people - it's really awesome.

What has been your best memory as an engineering student? Joining EA. Engineering Ambassadors is such a unique organization built on the foundation of an absolutely amazing and dedicated advisor and a great group of talented individuals. Everyone within the group brings something different to the table. It's a great way for engineers to learn to communicate better and to provide community outreach as well. I can honestly say the things I have learned at EA will be tools I use forever.

What advice would you give a first-year engineer? Work hard, play hard. It is extremely important to focus on your studies as an engineering student because it is a very rigorous program but it is also important to get involved in things that you are interested in outside of your major. Participating in other organizations has really kept me grounded and concentrated here at Penn State. In order to be successful as a student, you must be well rounded and essentially happy. To do this, put yourself out there and get involved! It makes a world of difference and you'll meet so many unique and awesome people! And one thing to always keep in mind: don't sweat the small stuff. Things will work out if you try your best.

What do you plan to do after graduation? With my degree in Architectural Engineering and my concentration in Construction Management, I plan to go after my goal to be a Project Manager someday. After interning with Barton Malow Company, I hope to hire on full time when I graduate. In the long term, I am considering working towards being a Professional Engineer to further my career in the construction industry. Maybe someday when I want to settle down, I'll bring my experiences in the industry back to PSU and teach.

What has been your best experience outside of engineering at Penn State? My best experience outside of engineering so far has been my representing the college as a woman in a male dominated major in my Lion Ambassadors group. The organization is made up of students from all different colleges, majors, minors, and interests and being able to represent the College of Engineering as a woman is something that I take a lot of pride in. The program is extremely professional and I have met some of the greatest role models, friends, and unique individuals that I could imagine from this motivating group.
