Why did you choose to come to Penn State? Penn State is highly respected and recognized for its engineering. Penn State has a beautiful campus and beautiful and great people all throughout. The overall atmosphere is amazing and the Penn State pride (Blue and White) is at an all-time high all the time. The learning atmosphere is both strong in and outside the classroom and the outside projects are real and change the world literally. From an engineering standpoint there are real life projects being designed and made in states and countries all over. We are even recognized as number one for corporate recruitment. From a college standpoint, the over a hundred clubs, over a hundred organizations and thousands of students from all over is also another reason I came to Penn State. To sum this all up, the people and this campus is why I chose to come here.
What has been your best memory as an engineering student? I do not have a best memory because every semester I have been here I have had multiple amazing and never forgotten memories as an engineering student.
What advice would you give a first-year engineer? First, don’t ever worry about the grades. You did not come to college to get grades but to learn. The classes are going to be hard but focus on learning the material. Once you understand the material the grades will come.
Second, do not be afraid to ask a question or ask for help. Whenever you think that you must be the only one that does not understand don’t, everyone is just thinking the same way you do.
What do you plan to do after graduation? After I graduate from this school I will get a job that will not only pay well, but will be the job I enjoy going to everyday for the rest of my life fulfilling my love for traveling and doing different jobs in different engineering disciplines. This job will be in a location where I can maintain my own personal extracurricular activities and enjoy my Caribbean culture. After graduation I plan on living a well fulfilled life as an engineering alumni of Penn State.
What has been your best experience outside of engineering at Penn State? Between the organizations I am in, the fact that I am an RA for Res Life in the same building I lived in my freshman year and the fact that I am best friends with the same people I met my freshman year, there are way too many best experience at this school to list. But the most important and best thing is that even after so many years here there are many more amazing experiences to come at Penn State.
