Outcomes

- Increase the number of graduates that are qualified for entry-level jobs in the lighting professions
- Ensure that student coursework and projects are consistent with the needs of the lighting industry
- Create a stream of emerging professionals that are enthusiastic about light in the built environment and eager to contribute to IALD and other professional societies
- Energize both students and professionals by creating meanigful opportunities for interaction
- Increase the intellectual capital of the lighting professions by valuing people and investing in their future
- Perform meaningful research, as with the joint workshop of the IALD Metrics of Quality (MOQ) and the IES Quality of the Visual Environment (QVE) that was run in April 2009
- Bring Together industry leaders, students, and faculty by planning and hosting the Lighting Industry Advisory Group (LIAG) Annual Roundtable
- Award Bachelor of Architectural Engineering (BAE) and Master of Architectural Engineering (MAE) degrees, where the student was positively influenced by Project CANDLE
- Support a Ph.D. student through the “IALD Future Lighting Educator Fellowship”, whose dissertation topic has been defined with input from the LIAG.
- Encourage interaction and involvement with student travel awards
- Develop a technical journal article that summarizes the lighting industry’s perceptions of lighting education.
