What to wear

We recommend that employers either wear business formal attire or less-formal clothing that features the colors or logo of their company or organization.

Penn State policies on promotional materials and giveaways

You are welcome to provide students attending the Fair with promotional materials or giveaways from your company/organization, featuring your corporate logo or name.

If you are providing a special information sheet or handout to students about your company/organization that has been created specifically for the Fair, you may use Penn State's name or visual identity on the handout in order to communicate that the material relates to your visit to this institution. However, please note that it is against Penn State policy for recruiters to use the University's name or registered symbols on giveaway items (e.g., keychains, pens, drink holders, bags, tension balls, etc.).

If you have any questions about the appropriate use Penn State's name or logo, please contact Karen Magnuson, Assistant Director and Manager of University Editor Representative System, Department of University Publications (phone: 814-863-1870).

Advance shipping

The Nittany Lion Inn has very limited space to accommodate Engineering Career Fair materials that are shipped in advance of the event; therefore, Inn staff request that you bring as many of your materials with you as possible. If you need to ship materials to the Inn in advance, please note that packages will NOT be accepted before January 30, 2015. Any materials that arrive at the Inn before this date will be returned to you.

To ensure that any pre-shipped materials arrive at the Inn without delay and are waiting for you at your booth on the day of the Fair, please make sure that your company or organization name and the number of packages you have sent are clearly marked on the outside of each box or package (e.g., "ABC Company, 1 of 2").

Address all materials for pre-shipment to:

Engineering Career Fair, [Your Employer Name]
c/o The Nittany Lion Inn
200 West Park Ave.
State College, PA 16803

Finally, be sure to bring along the tracking numbers you used when you initially shipped your packages to the Inn (in case something is lost, the tracking numbers will help you determine whether or not the package ever actually arrived!) and return labels for your preferred carrier (so you can ship remaining materials or items back to your workplace the day after the Fair).

Career Fair materials drop-off

If you are arriving at The Nittany Lion Inn on the morning of the Fair, pull into the main circle/front entrance driveway (off Park Avenue). There will be student volunteers there to help unload any materials you may have brought with you. Once your exhibition materials are unloaded, proceed to the parking deck next to the hotel. The student volunteers will take your materials to your booth location. Please do not leave your car parked in the front entrance area for an extended period of time.

If you are staying at the Inn the night before the Fair, you may choose to leave your materials in your car overnight, and then pull your car around to the unloading location during the check-in period. Alternatively, you can drop off your materials upon arrival at the Inn and the reception desk staff can hold them for you and (upon request) place them at your booth location the following day.

Parking

Employers should park in The Nittany Lion Inn Parking Deck (on Fischer Road) for this event. Upon entering the garage, you will need to pick up a ticket. Take this ticket with you so you can have it validated at the hotel reception desk when you leave.

Check-in

There will be a check-in table for employers in the Rotunda, located between the Front Desk and the Atrium (any employee at the Inn can direct you).

When you check in, you will receive your booth number(s), as well as a packet with instructions for the Fair and what to do if you have elected to reserve interview space.

Booth dimensions and set-up

If you are bringing a booth that is larger than six feet wide, you must buy two booths to accommodate the display. Likewise, if your booth is taller than seven feet high, please notify us, as we will need to place you accordingly (not all rooms at the Inn can accommodate such large displays). The total space available for each booth is seven feet long by four feet wide.

Once you have checked in, a student volunteer can show you to your designated booth area. Unless you have requested other arrangements, your booth will be equipped with one six-foot table, two chairs, and an electrical hook-up. If you think you might need an extension cord for your display, please bring it with you; the Inn is unable to provide extension cords.

Employer lounges

The Penn State Room (located inside the Dining Room) and the Mount Nittany Room (located on the ground floor) will both be available for employers to use throughout the Fair. A variety of light snacks and beverages will be provided between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. There will also be wireless Internet access, for your convenience.

Meals

The Nittany Lion Inn offers a couple of choices if you wish to purchase lunch or dinner onsite. Whiskers Pub (open throughout the hours of the Fair) serves sandwiches, salads, and other light meals; the Dining Room at the Inn (open for lunch 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.) offers more formal dining options.

Return shipping

You will be responsible for arranging any needed return shipping of materials to your workplace following the Fair. Please bring return shipping labels with you for the carrier of your choice.

Once you have packed up your booth (if applicable) and any remaining Fair materials that you wish to take with you, move them to the employer registration area (located in the rotunda). Society of Women Engineers (SWE) volunteers can help you, as needed, and will make arrangements to have your materials stored at the Inn overnight. If you have any remaining giveaway materials that you would like to donate to SWE, you can leave them at your booth location and SWE volunteers will collect them.

Shippers may collect all materials from The Nittany Lion Inn the day after the Fair, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.; please call your preferred carrier to arrange pickup.
