Penn State College Of Engineering

Our Services For Students

The Engineering Career Resources & Employer Relations office is the destination for Penn State engineering students who want to develop their career search skills, present themselves effectively as professionals, and find both short-term and full-time job opportunities. Our helpful professional staff serve the career development needs of approximately 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Engineering, as well as engineering students in the College of Earth & Mineral Sciences.

As an engineering student, you already know that jobs in your field will be available after you graduate, since engineers are designing the innovative technologies of the future. However, the state of the U.S. and global economies will always be unpredictable, and numbers of the most desirable positions uncertain. You need to position yourself to be competitive by taking advantage of opportunities to gain professional experience prior to graduation.

Engineering Career Resources & Employer Relations can help you:

  • Plan and write a résumé that will best highlight your skills, interests, and accomplishments
  • Organize a cover letter that clearly communicates your interest in a particular employer and/or position
  • Improve your professional image and expand your network
  • Find engineering co-op, internship, research, and full-time positions for which you may choose to earn Penn State credit
  • Assess and compare job offers
  • Practice professional communication with employers at career fairs, informational meetings, and networking events
