Co-op & Internship Course Requirements

Students who are registered to receive credit for their co-op or internship experience will be expected to complete the following requirements for their ENGR 195, 295, 395, 495, or 595 courses:

Work Period Registration Form

You will complete the Work Period Registration Form within the first two weeks of your work assignment in order to provide the Engineering Career Resources & Employer Relations office with some basic information about your workplace and assignment, including your contact information and that of your supervisor. Your supervisor will receive an e-mailed verification after you have submitted this form.

To complete the Work Period Registration Form, go to the Co-op & Internship Program Assignment Management System Web site (Penn State user ID and password required), select Work Period Registration Form and the appropriate semester/year, and hit the Submit button.

Mid-Semester Evaluation

The Mid-Semester Evaluation gives you and your supervisor the opportunity to formally assess your on-the-job performance at the mid-point of your experience and to give you (and the Engineering Career Resources & Employer Relations staff) information about what you have been doing well and where you need to improve for the second half of your co-op or internship. You and your supervisor should plan to meet before completing the evaluation to discuss any performance issues.

To complete the Mid-Semester Evaluation, go to the Co-op & Internship Program Assignment Management System Web site (Penn State user ID and password required), select Mid-Semester Evaluation and the appropriate semester/year, and hit the Submit button.

End-of-Semester Evaluation

The End-of-Semester Evaluation offers you and your supervisor the opportunity to evaluate your overall performance in your position, to make recommendations about what you could improve in a future work assignment, and to assess how well you met your own goals and those of the company. Be sure to meet with and talk to your supervisor before completing the evaluation.

To complete the End-of-Semester Evaluation, go to the Co-op & Internship Program Assignment Management System Web site (Penn State user ID and password required), select End-of-Semester Evaluation and the appropriate semester/year, and hit the Submit button.

End-of-Semester Reports

The End-of-Semester Report summarizes your experience at your workplace. It provides information about the company and the type of work you did during each co-op or internship. It also gives you an opportunity for self-analysis regarding your experience and your goals.

See the End-of-Semester Report requirements for information about expectations and submission.
