How do I get started?
First decide if you want to receive undergraduate credits or graduate credits after successfully completing the course. There are two different processes to follow.

If you want to register for this course for undergraduate credit, please contact Deb Zimmerman for special instructions at 814-865-7643 (Toll Free: 866-570-7643) or by email at: dlz1@psu.edu.

If you want to register for this course for graduate credit, you should follow the steps listed below.
It is very important that you follow the steps in this order.

1. Create a “Friends of Penn State” (FPS) computer account. There is no charge for this but you will need this account to apply to the graduate school and to register for a course.

When you go to the link below, click on “Create an Account.” After you have completed the information (make sure you write down your password!) and hit submit, you will instantly receive an ID.

You will need this ID to complete Step 2.

2. Apply as a part-time non-degree graduate student. The process and will take about 15 minutes to complete. You must do this before you register for a course or you will NOT receive graduate credit. Currently there is no cost to apply, but starting on October 1, 2008 the Graduate School application will include a $30.00 fee.  Go to the site below, carefully read all the directions. It is important that you correctly fill out the Campus / Major / Degree Information page (see sample below).

Campus/Major/Degree Information

You will be permitted to take up to 12 credits as a part time non-degree graduate student. When you reach 15 credits, you will be asked to reapply as a degree seeking graduate student if you meet the program requirements.

>> The Graduate School Online Application

Use your FPS ID and Password to enter this site.

3. Notify the Office of Continuing & Distance Education in the College of Engineering of your FPS ID and that you have submitted your part time non-degree graduate application. We will follow up on your application and admit you to the course site using your FPS ID.

4. Complete the course Registration Form and a Penn State Computer Access Account (CAC) application below. You are required to apply for a full student computer account when you register for a course. Your initial FPS account will not allow you to access all Penn State information.

Complete the following form:
