bulletThere are a significant number of homework problems, 10 of which are to be submitted for a grade.
bulletThere are 2 examinations during the semester and a comprehensive final examination.

Course Structure

Reading Assignments Following the Course Schedule, the student begins by reading assigned articles in the textbook.
Video Presentation After completing the Reading Assignment, the student is directed to view a short Unit Topic Streaming Video. In each video the course author summarizes, and provides further background, to the reading assignment. The average length of the video presentation is 8 to 16 minutes. Several of the Unit Topic videos include Laboratory Demonstrations. The Presentation Slides for each Unit Topic video are available for printing to allow students to record their own notes and annotations. The slides also may provide internet links to relevant Web sites.
Sample and Guided Problems After viewing the Unit Topic video, the student should study the Sample Problems in the textbook, and work through the the Guided Problems in the Student Study Guide that accompanies the textbook.
Homework Problems

There are several types of Homework Problem Assignments on the Course Schedule.

bullet
The four problems listed in green for Class 1 are Review Problems (RP) from Statics. A detailed video explanation of each problem solution is available to the student in the Homework Assignments and Solutions folder. These problems are for self-assessment and are not submitted for a grade.
bullet
The problems listed in black are taken directly from the textbook and can be found at the end of each chapter. A detailed video explanation of each problem solution is available to the student in the Homework Assignments and Solutions folder. These problems are for self-assessment and are not submitted for a grade.
bullet
The 10 problems listed in red are Special Problems (SP) that are to be submitted for grading. These ten problems are linked to individual PDF documents. Please see the Homework Assignments and Solutions folder for details on submitting homework for grading. The graded problems are not from the textbook and video solutions are not provided.
Exams Exams are based on the assigned material. All exams require a proctor to receive, administer, then return completed work. Students must identify a proctor and have the proctor complete and return the Proctor Information Form at least one full week before each scheduled exam. Refer to the calendar section for exam dates.
