ME 565 Optimal Design of Mechanical and Structural Systems

Course Description

This course will cover:

Optimization Theory

bullet

Problem Modeling

bullet

Solution by Hand-calculations & by Computer Programs

bullet

This course requires the use of MATLAB Software and Microsoft Excel.

bullet

Use commercial optimization software

bullet

Simulation based optimization (e.g., with FEA)

bullet

Enhanced math and computer skills

bullet

Optimization applications include system reliability, quality control, refinery operations, supply chain optimization, financial engineering, product design in appliance, automotive, electronics or aerospace industries.

This course requires the use of MATLAB Software and Microsoft Excel.

A Student Edition of MATLAB is available from the PSU Computer Store.

The use of Mac OS computers in not supported in this course.
