Immediate Openings

Undergraduate Assistants:

Undergraduate assistants will work on a part-time basis at the Pennsylvania Transportation Institute (PTI) pavement materials laboratories. The labs are located at the University Park campus. Work scope for undergraduate assistants include assistance in day-to-day laboratory activities.

Summer Internships:

Work scope covers research in the areas of construction materials, pavement design and testing and other materials-related experimental work.

Graduate Research Assistants:

Full-time research assistantships are available on a competitive basis. An RA package includes tuition waiver, health benefits and a competitive monthly stipend. Research areas with openings include:

  • Pavement materials
  • Pavement Design and Management
  • Accelerated Pavement Testing
  • Non-destructive Testing and Evaluation
  • Numerical Modeling

Internships and Co-ops

Each year, most students undertake internships in the industry during the summer break or programs of Co-operative Engineering in various months to gain a first hand experience of engineering practice in use. The Engineering Co-operative Education and Internship Programs office organizes these each year using PlacePro, a web-based utility that enables students and employers to search for and interact with each other.
