I've been a faculty member in the CEE Department at PSU for 10 years now. I just ended my first sabbatical and spent my time instructing and doing research at the School of Engineering at Tecnun, the Technological Campus of the University of Navarra in San Sebastian, Spain.
I received my Ph.D. degree from the
Georgia

of 1999. My dissertation was entitled "Studies
of a Full-Scale Horizontally Curved Steel I-Girder Bridge System Under
Self-Weight."

I have two main research focus areas: bridge engineering and force protection/structural hardening. However, I have been fortunate enough to have been involved with research in other areas, most significantly laboratory testing and structural health monitoring. Check my Research/Publications page for more specifics.
I teach courses related to steel structures, bridges, structural analysis and structural health monitoring. See my Teaching page for class titles.
I am married with two daughters - I love the ladies in my life! See my Personal page for info on my family and what else I like to do.
I would not still be around as a faculty member if it wasn't for my current and former graduate and undergraduate honors students (the other "Family"). For info on my current students and links to their pages see my Students - UG & Grad page. I am also attempting to keep track of my former graduate advisees on the same page.
