Roland Cusick Ph.D. Student (Since 2010) Roland's work is on practical applications of MECs for food processing and industrial wastewaters.
Marta Hatzell PhD Student (Since January 2011) Marta's research focus is on the modeling of BEC's. Marta obtained her BS in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University.
Lijiao Ren Ph.D. Student (Since 2010) Lijiao's research focus is on improvements on catode in MEC (microbial elecrolysis cells) and exploration for application of the BES (bioelectrochemical system). Lijiao received her Bachelor and Masters Degrees from the Harbin Institute of Technology (China).
Valerie Watson Ph.D. Student (Since 2009) Valerie is working on cathodes for microbial fuel cells.
Wulin Yang Ph.D. Student (Since August 2012) Wulin received is Bachelor degree at Peking University (China) and Master degree from Yale University . Wulin's current research focuses on developing advanced cathode materials in MFC (Microbial Fuel Cells).
Matthew Yates Ph.D. Student (Since 2011) Matthew obtained a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Davis in BioEngineering and his Master's degree from Penn State University. His research interest is in the structure and composition of communities of both pure and mixed culture MXC's.
Graduate Students
Robert Davis MS Student (Since 2011) Robert's research focus is on increasing the rate of desalination in MDC's. Robert obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of California-Irvine
Vanessa Lanas Medina MS Student (Since 2011) Vanessa's research focus is on the improvement of carbon fiber brushes in anodes of microbial fuel cells. Vanessa obtained her undergraduate degree in environmental engineering from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador).
Daniel Hoskins MS Student (Since August 2012) Daniel obtained his undergraduate degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. His current research focus is on separators in MFCs.
Caroline Price MS Student (Since 2011) Caroline's research focus is on examining the effectiveness of oxygen scavengers on power generation in MFC's. Caroline obtained her undergraduate degree in Civl and Environmental Engineering from the University of Virginia.
Mark Ullery MS Student (Since August 2012) Mark's research focus is on testing the performance and treatability of wastewaters in MEC reactors. Mark obtained is undergraduate degree in civil and environmental engineering in May 2012 from the University of Washington. .
