Post-Doctoral Research (Since June 2014)

Kyoung-Yeol is a environmental engineer with a background in energy production by bioelectrochemical system and wastewater treatment. Currently, he is working on scaling up of MFCs.

Kyoung-Yeol obtained his PhD from GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology), Korea in 2014.

Taeyoung Kim, PhD
Post-Doctoral Researcher (Since January 2015)

Taeyoung obtained his PhD from Seoul National University, School of Chemical and Biological Engineering in January 2015.

Taeyoung's reseach focus is on developing a novel desalination process and is currently harvesting energy from salinity gradients using electrochemical system.

Yasemin Yilmazel, PhD
Post-Doctoral Researcher (Since June 2014)

Yasemin earned her undergraduate degree with a dual major in Environmental Engineering and Chemical Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey.

Her research interests are environmental microbiology, wastewater engineering, nutrient recovery and biofuel production. Currently, she is working on bioelectrochemical methane production via microbial electrolysis cells (MECs).

Yasemin obtained her master’s degree from METU in 2009 and her Ph.D. degree from Villanova University (PA, USA) in 2014.

Xiuping Zhu, PhD
Post-Doctoral Researcher and Technician (Since August 2011)

Xiuping is an environmental scientist with a background in electrochemistry for wastewater treatment. She is currently working on the electron transfer mechanisms in MFCs. 

Xiuping obtained her PhD from Peking University, China in 2011.
