Minimum Requirements

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

  • Minimum TOEFL Requirement: 220
  • Minimum Cumulative iBT: 80
  • Minimum Speaking: 20

Applicants to a Civil Engineering MS or MEng program

BSCE from an accredited institution

Applicants to the Environmental Engineering masters program

Engineering graduates: any field, with a class in environmental engineering and fluid mechanics or hydraulics

Science graduates: Admitted on a provisional basis until the following coursework is completed either from courses taken elsewhere or as part of the graduate studies at Penn State: math through differential equations; chemistry (two semesters); physics (calculus based, two semesters); a class in environmental engineering; fluid mechanics or hydraulics

Applicants to the Ph.D. Program

All applicants to the Ph.D. program must hold a masters degree from a recognized college or university.
