Setting up an Open Data Base Connectivity (ODBC) source.
An ODBC driver manager is usually installed to your control panel during the installation of Microsoft Office and other applications. If you do not have an ODBC driver manager as shown in step 1 below, please contact your network technical contact. He/she should be able to install the driver manager.. If you cannot complete the steps below please notify your technical contact.
In addition to the information provided below, there a few additional requirements such as your computer must be configured to utilize a networking protocol such as TCP/IP. If you are a College of Engineering user you should also reference on of the college's Windows Internet Name Server (WINS) servers as listed as follows:
Primary WINS server - 130.203.197.7
Secondary WINS server - 130.203.197.5
The example that follows assumes that you are using Windows 2000 as your operating system If you are using Windows NT or Windows 9x you must adapt the procedure to the operating system.
Bring up your control panel by clicking on the "Start"
then "Settings" then "Control Panel". You should now
see a window as depicted in step 1) and you are now ready to begin. If

The server can be identified several ways.
You can type the IP address: 130.203.201.17 (Recommended), or ENGR-MIS-SQL01.CEDCC.PSU.EDU
Click NEXT.
6) Under "authenticity" make sure to select "With SQL Server authentication...." Make sure "Connect to SQL Server to obtain default settings..." is UNCHECKED.
Then Click NEXT.
7) Engineering users should select "Named Pipes".

Non-Engineering users should select TCP/IP.

Click "OK" then "NEXT". Your screen should look as follows:

Click "Next" and you should see:

8) Click "Finish" and you should see:

If you supplied a userid and password in step 5) you can select "Test Data Source". Then select "OK". If everything went according to plan you should return to the main screen of the ODBC driver manager. You should see the newly created ODBC source "ENGR_WAREHOUSE".

You have just created an ODBC data source. This data source is your link to your CPSII data.
When accessing CPSII you will be prompted to logon.
