Kathedrale St. Trinitatis (Katholische Hofkirche):
Diese spätbarocke Basilika besteht aus drei
Schiffen und enthält vier Kapellen. 1739 begann der römischen Architekt Gaetano Chiaveri,
den August III zu diesem Zweck beauftragt hatte, den Bau dieser schönen Kathedrale.
Der Rokoko-Baumeister Johann Christoph Knöffel führte den Bau weiter, und 1755
vollendete ihn Sebastian Wenzel. Lorenzo Matielli schuf die über drei Meter großen
Heiligenfiguren, die die Fassade verzieren. Nach ihrer Vollendung verärgerte diese katholische
Kathedrale die protestantischen Bürger Dresdens. Diese Aufnahme wurde von der Aussichtsplattform
des Residenzschlosses aus gemacht, die einem diesen Blick in 38
Meter Höhe bietet. Das Residenzschloss, das der ehemalige Sitz der sächsischen
Kurfürsten und Könige war, wird derzeit vollkommen wieder aufgebaut.
This late Baroque basilica consists of three naves and contains
four chapels. In 1739 the Rome architect, Gaetano Chiaveri, who August III.
had commissioned for this purpose, began the construction of this beautiful
cathedral. The Rococo master builder; Johann Christopf Knöffel, carried
out the construction, and in 1755 Sebastian Wenzel completed it. Lorenzo
Matielli created the holy figures, which are over three meters high, that
decorate the facade. During the history of Dresden that took place after
the construction of the church, this Catholic cathedral angered the
Protestant citizens. The view of this church arises from the observation
platform of the Residenzschloss, which offers one this 38-
meter-high view. The Residenzschloss, which was the former
residence of the princes and kings of Saxony, is currently being rebuilt.
