Dreikönigskirche:
In der Dresdner Inneren Neustadt befindet sich
die Dreikönigskirche, ein imposantes Gotteshaus. Gemeinsam führten
Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann, der das Dresdner Japanische Palais erbaute,
und George Bähr, der Architekt der Dresdner Frauenkirche, 1732 den
Bau aus. Nach dem Tod Pöppelmanns 1734 leitete Bähr allein den Bau
bis der Vollendung im Jahre 1739. Den mächtigen Turm errichteten
1854-57 Karl Moritz Haenel und Frommhold Marx, die auch das
Satteldach mit einem neuen, von Bähr ursprünglich entworfenen
Mansarddach ersetzte. Nachdem sie im Zweiten Weltkrieg zerstört
worden war, wurde das Äußere der Dreikönigskirche bis 1990
wieder aufgebaut.
The Dreikönigskirche (church of the three Magi), an imposing
church, is located in the central part of the Neustadt section of Dresden.
The construction was carried out jointly by Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann,
who built the Japanische Palais in Dresden, and by George Bähr,
the architect of the Frauenkirche in Dresden. After the death of
Pöppelmann in 1734, Bähr alone brought the construction to completion
in 1739. In 1845-57, Karl Moritz Haenel and Frommhold Marx erected
the powerful tower, and they replaced the gable roof with a new Mansard
roof, which Bähr had originally designed. After it had been destroyed in
the Second World War, the exterior of the Dreikönigskirche
was rebuilt in 1990.
