Pauluskirche:Um die Jahrhundertwende
wurde diese prächtige Kirche
nach dem preisgekrönten Entwurf vom Architekt Theodor Fischer errichtet. Diese Kirche
ist eine Stahlbetonkonstruktion, und sie war der erste Kirchenbau Deutschlands, der
in Sichtbeton verziert wurde. Die Gestaltung dieser Kirche kehrt das Herkömmliche um,
weil sich Vorhalle und Orgelempore als überkuppelte Apsis im Westen befinden und die
Zweiturmfassade im Osten ist. Während der Bauzeit war Fischers neuartiger
Begriff des protestantischen Kirchenbaus hoch umstritten.
Around the turn of the century, this splendid church was erected
according to the prizewinning design of the architect Theodor Fischer.
This church was constructed out of steel-reinforced concrete, and it was
the first of Germany's church buildings to be decorated in natural concrete.
The design of this church is turned around from the conventional, because the lobby
and the organ gallery are located as the domed apse in the West and the two-tower
entrance is located in the East. During the time of construction, Fischer's new
conception of the protestant church was highly controversial.
