Electronic & Computer Services

Mission Statement

The faculty and staff of Electronic and Computer Services are proud to be an organization within the College of Engineering’s Dean’s Office. This small but extremely dedicated assembly of personnel work in four groups that support the College’s educational, research, and administrative operations.

Our Integrated Design Services is headed by a faculty director and includes engineering and technical professionals that develop electronic and mechanical systems for a broad spectrum of clientele. Each project is managed and directed by an organizational team member, but is tailored to engage both undergraduate and graduate students. Teams work closely with faculty throughout Penn State and clientele from industry and government to formulate programs that result in systems and applications which meet specific operational needs and in various environments while maximizing student project involvement.

Today, every aspect of academic and administrative activities heavily depends on the ability to communicate, where communication encompasses producing, processing, and storing information for the purposes of education, research collaboration, and business operations. In short, the explosion of the information age is directly attributable to the Internet and those servers, services, and applications in place. The College of Engineering’s investment in infrastructure, servers, applications, and applications training is designed, installed, managed, and facilitated by the organization’s Networking, Support, and Training Services. These outstanding and acclaimed groups consist of dedicated and highly professional staff; the majority of our services are available at no cost to Engineering faculty and staff.

You are cordially invited to explore the Electronic and Computer Services website to learn more about us and how we can assist you with your educational, research, and business operations.

Thank you for visiting our site. Your comments or questions are always welcome.

Sincerely,

William J. Burkhard
