The Engineering Environmental Institute (EEI) was launched in 1999 as a part of the development of the Penn State Institutes of the Environment. In support of these environmentally-focused activities at Penn State, the EEI: Provides a central focus for the activities by engineering faculty and staff on environmentally relevant topics Promotes the engineering of environmentally sustainable systems and technologies Facilitates collaborations of engineering faculty with others across the campus Serves as the institute within engineering that coordinates activities with the Penn State Institutes of the Environment. William E.
