Natural resource engineering is a strong component within the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Faculty and students are involved with environmental research related to agriculture, natural ecosystems, and urban/rural interface issues. Other projects focus on the design of engineered systems to address point and non-point source pollutants.

Faculty and student research interests span a wide variety of environmentally-related topics including:

• nonpoint source pollution transport and modeling
• erosion and sedimentation control
• water resource management and monitoring
• nutrient cycling in natural and constructed wetlands
• compost management and utilization
• animal manure and biosolids utilization
• odor control
