Call
for Proposals: Engenious Activities
(Engineering Environmental Institute Interesting and Outstanding Studies
and Activities)
In an effort to highlight research projects at Penn State in the
College of Engineering that have wide public interest, we have initiated
the Engenious Activity program to make information on these projects
more widely available. If a research project that you direct is
receiving great public attention (or you believe should receive
more attention), this is an opportunity to advertise this activity
to other researchers and the public. Of particular interest are
topics that have been covered by Penn State Press releases or that
might be of special interest to the public. For example, see the
excellent web pages developed by the Acoustics program on “Thermoacoustic
Refrigeration” (www.acs.psu.edu/thermoacoustics/refrigeration/benandjerrys.htm).
It is assumed that funding will primarily be for undergraduate
students to assist a professor with this project. Summer funding
for web-based “education/outreach” efforts on a specific
topics should be in the $3-5K range per project. An example proposal
is available from the Engineering Environmental Institute office
via email (email: Denise Hessler, dhessler@engr.psu.edu).
Due Date: May 1, 2006
