Networking Events

Once the semester starts, there will be networking events where the students can come with their mentor group. Several companies have been invited to come and sponsor these activities so the students have face time with company representatives. The events aim to help students become more involved with the College of Engineering and to meet new people within the College. Some of the current events for this year are listed below.

    Fall 2012
  • August 29th: Engineering Activities Fair 6-8PM- 207 Hammond
    • Want to get involved with another engineering club besides EON? Come to the engineering activities fair and visit all of the College of Engineering clubs booths to learn more about what they do and when they meet!
  • August 30th: IM Soccer Sign-ups
  • Semptember 4th:Professional Development Session
  • - 220 Hammond
  • September 5th: Networking with Engineers for a Sustainable World- 7:30pm in 158 Willard.
    • Are you interested in sustainability, Green energy, recycling, or the planet saving technologies of the future? Then this is the networking event for you! Come learn all about the facilitie tours, Green speakers, and hands on projects you can work on that ESW has planned for this year!
  • September 9th: Networking with Penn State Racing- 3PM in the Learning Factory classroom.
    • Do you have a need for speed? Want to work on a formula one race car? Then this is the event for you! Come learn how you can get involved in the fastest club on campus!
  • September 11th: RESUMANIA
  • September 20th: Major Discoveries- 6-8PM
    • This event will be made up of 12 separate sessions going on simultaniously, one for each major, lasting 30 minutes.  Each session will include a 15 minute presentation given by an Engineering Ambassador about the major and 15 minute for a panel discussion and Q&A.  The panel will be made up of the Engineering Ambassador, a professor in the department and an industry representative.  Each session will run 3 times throughout the event, and you will be able to attend up to 3 different majors. Come for one, two, or three of the sessions, whatever works for you.

Career Fair Preparation Networking Event
Sponsored by Shell
The event entailed a representative from Shell and the Associate Director of the Engineering Career Resources and Employer Relations office Kim Fox, who spoke on career fair preparation. There were career fair kits raffled off at the door which included resume paper, pens, and portfolios.

EON Olympics 2011
Co-sponsored by Penn State Racing

Teams of engineers battled to be the winners of the first EON Olympics. Using only their brains they competed through four events including engineering Jeopardy, newspaper bridge building, a paper airplane competition, and the last most treaterouse event of all, the marshmallow tower competition.
