Academics

Just as Penn State offers hundreds of fields of study, the College of Engineering is one of the most diverse engineering schools, offering dozens of majors, minors, and certificate programs.

First-year studies emphasize math, physics, chemistry, computer programming, and an introduction to engineering design. In the second and third years, much of the course work consists of required engineering lecture and laboratory courses that provide a broad exposure to the many aspects of each specific engineering discipline. The undergraduate engineering programs culminate with a senior project that encompasses the various phases of creating a new product—designing, building, testing, and even marketing.

Throughout each engineering program, students will broaden their education with courses in communications (writing and speaking), arts, humanities, and the social sciences.
