About the Program

Welcome

The College of Engineering developed the Global Internship and Cooperative Education Program (GICEP), with the support of the Alcoa Foundation (www.alcoa.com), to give students opportunities for work and educational experiences in other cultures. Please explore our site by following the links on the left to see the opportunities we have to offer.

Opportunities

Locations:

Currently there are opportunities to work in France, Germany, and Singapore. Other locations that are being added include England, Spain, and Australia. Students in the past have also worked in Mexico, Canada, and Ireland.

International University Partners:

In order to maximize the number of available opportunities, we work with several universities around the world. Our partners help identify the opportunities, find housing, arrange local transportation, and act as a local contact. Some are:

University of Applied Sciences Kiel, Fachhochschule Kiel, Germany
IUT Bethune, France
National University of Singapore
Universidad de Navarra, Spain

The list of universities is always changing, so it is important to do your own research about universities that are located in the country of your choice.

Companies:

Some past companies where Penn State students have worked include DLR, Sollac, GKN plc, Herta, Seagate Technology, and Heidelberger.

The list of employers is always changing, so it is important to do your own research about companies that are located in the country of your choice. You can also work with your current co-op employer to develop an opportunity for you to work at one of the company's overseas locations.
