Peer Review of Exceptional Performance

In 2001, the College of Engineering started a new staff program known as The Peer Review of Exceptional Performance (PREP).  PREP is designed to recognize, reward, and retain exceptional staff employees within the College.  PREP provides every staff employee the potential for two promotions within their current position.

PREP is open to staff employees at all grades (exempt and non-exempt) and appointment types (standing or fixed-term) in the College who have been in their current positions for at least two years as of March 31st and who have received outstanding performance evaluations for the past two years.  Following a discussion with their supervisor, eligible staff employees will assemble information on their job performance that will be reviewed by their supervisor, Department Head/Unit Leader, a college-wide committee of peers, and the Dean.  Successful candidates receive an 8% salary increase, in addition to any annual increase, effective July 1.

The College-wide peer review committee consists of seven members selected from department/unit nominees.  The seven members include 3 non-exempt staff, 2 exempt staff, and 2 staff from research/technical areas.  The Human Resources Manager serves as a non-voting member of the committee.
