The Proposed Design

The design concept is to create a housing community that:

  • encourage social interaction through the creation of outdoor communal spaces;
  • promotes healthy caretaker and resident interaction;
  • provides a multitude of pathways for day-to-day movement around the site, and;
  • appropriately interacts with adjacent sections of the site which will include: agriculture, stormwater management, and public markets.

Due to the number of homes being placed in a small region, unwanted outdoor linear spaces will be created. These spaces will create a stagnant atmosphere that children will have to live alongside for a lifetime. To offset this affect, communal pavilions and interactive landforms will be intentionally placed among the homes. This will encourage sensory development and create an intimate environment for the youth. Click here for a detailed view of the proposed site layout.
