As president of AT&T Federal Systems, Mike Brunner was responsible for the acquisition and management of multimillion dollar contracts with various governmental agencies. The Federal Systems division generates $2.3 billion of AT&T’s annual revenues and employs over 5,000 individuals worldwide.
Mr. Brunner joined AT&T as a student engineer and since that time has moved through various assignments in plant, sales, engineering, accounting, and personnel throughout the corporation.
Named Industry Executive of the Year by Government Computer News, Mr. Brunner was a civic and business leader in the Washington Metropolitan Area. He was Chair Emeritus of the Junior Achievement of Metropolitan Washington and has served in a variety of volunteer positions for the United Way of Metropolitan Washington, including chair of the Trustees Assembly. He was President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Washington chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association. He served on the Board of Directors of the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Greater Washington, Inc.
His interest in youth and education extends to the public schools in the Washington, D.C. area. He currently serves on two corporate boards -- Westell Technologies, Inc. and Concurrent Computer, Inc. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Reginald C. Louie Center for Children in Rockville, MD. Mr. Brunner is also the chair and a member of the Schreyer Institute Advisory Board. He was a participant in the 1990 College of Engineering Key Executive Conference and supports the college’s minority engineering scholarship program. Mr. Brunner was named a Penn State Outstanding Engineering Alumnus in 1990 and honored as an Alumni Fellow in 1992.
