ENGR 888

ENGR 888 is a 1-credit course intended to help new teaching assistants in the College of Engineering become more effective in their teaching. The course introduces students to teaching methods and theories, focusing on practical information that students can actively use in their positions as Teaching Assistants. An important component of this course is an in-class observation of one or more actual class/lab sessions for which the student is responsible. A consultation will follow each observation, in which the student will receive feedback on how teaching may be improved. The class meets for 6 weeks at the start of the semester and then reconvenes at the end of the semester as an opportunity to reflect on teaching experiences. During the second half of the semester, students participate in peer observations of teaching and personal observations by the instructor.
